About me 〰️
Howzit! I’m Wianda Upton (née Gilliland) – a digital storyteller, multimedia content producer, and self-proclaimed internet culture enthusiast who swapped the sunny beaches of Cape Town for the charming canals of Amsterdam. I’m all about mixing data with creativity, memes with meaningful insights, and a dash of Gen Z flair to make sure every story I tell packs a punch.
I earned my stripes (and my Master’s in Journalism & Social Media) at Stellenbosch University, where I dove headfirst into the world of digital news, current affairs, and social media wizardry. Since then, I've been busy growing online communities for Netwerk24 (the leading Afrikaans news brand in South Africa, owned by the leading media company in South Africa, Media24), where I’ve not only doubled Instagram engagement but also turned TikTok into a powerhouse platform with over 100K followers. Whether it’s crafting witty and compelling content or leveraging data to decode what makes audiences tick, I’m your go-to person for all things digital.
My journey has been anything but ordinary – from bustling Cape Town to vibrant Amsterdam, I’ve embraced every twist and turn of my career with curiosity and a love for new experiences. I thrive on staying ahead of digital trends, keeping up with the latest viral memes, and turning breaking news into engaging content that resonates with Gen Z and millennial audiences alike.
When I’m not strategising the next big campaign or analyzing data like a digital detective, you can find me geeking out over pop culture, current events, and everything in between. I’m a firm believer that great storytelling can change the world, one scroll at a time.
So, if you’re into creativity, data, and a splash of irreverent humor, welcome to my little corner of the digital universe. Let’s hold some space, connect, create, and keep the conversation as dynamic as the ever-evolving world of social media!
